Our Story

mylk Revolution was born from Kris’ passion to share her journey in living a happy and healthy dairy-free lifestyle with others. It not only provides those with lactose intolerance an easy, delicious and quick transition to a dairy-free lifestyle that is sustainable, but aims to inspire others to re-think their dietary choices and consider going dairy-free.

Speaking from experience, Kris understands that the path to diagnosis of lactose intolerance can seem isolating and daunting; yet it need not be. Through her diagnosis, Kris finally understood why she had suffered from years of discomfort, bloating, pain, and chronic headaches, and was able to start a process of healing through food that she loved, and that loved her body back. She had always heard a voice inside telling her that milk and cheese were simply not agreeing with her, yet nutritionists and dietitians continued to advise dairy was crucial. She believed them as their intentions came from a good place, and the public media told her the same. It wasn’t until 2013 when she uncovered the truth about dairy, that she immediately changed her diet. From this moment onwards, she has never looked back.

 

Lactose intolerance is not a niche diagnosis. In fact, approximately 70% of the global population has trouble digesting lactose and given dairy is seen as a dietary staple that is a hard fact to swallow. Dairy is still widely consumed and many are left wondering why they experience discomfort or severe pain after certain dairy products. Even for those diagnosed with lactose intolerance, many are unsure about how to substitute dairy in their daily lives, with healthy and delicious alternatives. Becoming dairy-free is more easy and rewarding than you think; you just need to know how.

With TEDx experience and two university degrees, she left her successful career as a Management Consultant to become a wellness warrior. Kris particularly became impassioned to share her journey towards leading a happy, healthy dairy-free lifestyle with others, due to years of receiving conflicting advice from professionals about ways to manage her lactose intolerance and auto-immune disease.

Trying to find a cure for her severe chronic headaches which resulted from a car accident in 2004, she was diagnosed with lactose intolerance and the autoimmune disease Hashimoto’s in 2008. Instead of recommending life-style and nutritional changes her health practitioners pointed her towards medication and recommended to move onto a low-lactose diet while increasing her dairy consumption to ensure sufficient calcium intake. While she started her journey towards self-healing through lifestyle changes already in 2008 she only realised the full power of nutrition in 2013. Kris gained certification as a health coach, made conscious food choices and completely changed her diet, so much so that she can safely say today, her headaches are history, she has boundless energy, is 13kg lighter and enjoys every bite of her dairy-free food.

Kris now leads the mylk Revolution and developed the 7 day Kickstarter, the program she wished existed when she was first diagnosed with lactose intolerance – because she believes that everybody deserves to be happy and healthy.
